GivingTuesday, the world’s largest generosity movement, isn’t just a day about dollars; it’s about communities coming together. This December 3, 2019, is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
To help Smart Start of Mecklenburg County reach its goal of $5,000, donations can be made at GivingTuesdayCLT.org from November 19 – December 3. These funds will support our newly launched brain development campaign, Meck Basics, which focuses on five simple and powerful ways to help all our children aged 0-3 get a great start in life.
More specifically, your in-kind donation will provide books to families with young children because it is never too early to begin reading together — even babies enjoy it and benefit! Reading aloud from the very beginning is one of the most important things you can do to prepare your child to do well in school. Reading and talking to your child about the story builds their language skills and sparks their imagination. Reading, looking at books, or sharing stories is also a special time to snuggle up and connect, creating a bond and cherished lasting memories for parents and children.
Presented by Wells Fargo and powered by SHARE Charlotte, #GivingTuesdayCLT is an unprecedented collaboration of hundreds of Charlotte nonprofits as well as corporations, local businesses, community organizations and individuals coming together through good.
#GivingTuesdayCLT has influenced more than $24M in value for Mecklenburg County nonprofits, and has inspired 15K+new donors.
